Commission is the legal remuneration to travel agents

Karl Dantas
President, ETAA

ETAA has always supported the travel trade movements .We believe that ‘commission’ is the legal remuneration to travel agents for issuing and promoting  airlines ticket. It is our legitimate right. From the day on of this issue, ETAA has been standing for commission and not any other form of remuneration or compensation. IAAI is the only association for ‘commission’ from the day one – 20th June 2008, still fighting with tooth and nail and ETAA had already offered our blanket support to them for establishing justice in travel trade. We have a lot to achieve and  this can be ‘BETTER’ done together. You have taken the lead and we all highly appreciate this.

Unfortunately, the other associations concerned do not see the writing on the wall and are more occupied with internal wrangling, with not much time left for them to do something fruitful for the members of their associations, other than organize ‘Overseas Conventions’. I had convened several meetings with the TAAI & TAFI Committee members (Western Chapter as well as those from the National Body) to discuss how we could all work together, which they readily agreed. However, due to reasons best known to them, they did not take ETAA or IAAI into confidence and conducted PRIVATE MEETINGS with the Airlines, NTO’s, Consulates, Govt Bodies etc and thus conveyed to them ‘Inadvertently’ that the Travel Trade is not together.
